Ford in Focus
Advertorial
Technology is the driving force behind the All-new Ford Focus, which is why it’s proud to present the T3 Gadget Awards 2011…

The T3 Gadget Awards celebrate the very best that technology has to offer, from the year’s must-have smartphones to the finest gadgets for work and home, it’s all about highlighting truly innovative products, and those that are dedicated to making your life easier and more enjoyable. That’s something that Ford knows a thing or two about…
The All-new Ford Focus contains a wealth of state-of-the-art technologies that do everything from significantly boosting your fuel efficiency to keeping you safer on the roads and squeezing you into tricky parking spots. It’s a technologically-enhanced driving experience that’s truly Award-worthy.
Striking the balance between performance and efficiency, the Ford Focus EcoBoost engine is lighter, more compact and capable of more efficiently injecting fuel into each cylinder of the 1.6-litre engine. As a result, you spend less on your fuel bill and produce lower CO2 emissions – there’s up to a ten per cent reduction in emissions compared to conventional petrol engines.
Want to further boost your eco credentials? Ford’s Auto-Start-Stop system automatically shuts down the engine if you’re stuck in traffic or loitering at particularly slow-changing lights, potentially reducing your emissions by a further five per cent.
It’s not all about appeasing Mother Nature, though. The Focus is designed to maximise your enjoyment as a driver. With exceptional Torque Vectoring Control, an improved version of traction control that calibrates the road’s surface 100 times per second, the Ford Focus hugs the road like a streamlined limpet, accelerating through corners with comfortable ease.
Not content with providing one of the smoothest rides on the road, the All-new Ford Focus also helps you with the more stressful elements of driving, from keeping within speed limits – Ford’s Speed Limiter lets you set your maximum speed from the steering wheel, ensuring you don’t fall foul of the speed cameras – to auto-dimming your high beams at night; the Focus is built to dazzle with its features not its headlights.
It even takes the fear factor out of hill starts. No more over-revving to avoid rolling either; after you release the handbrake, the Focus holds the wheels steady for you.
These are just a few of the top-of-the-range features that can be found in the All-new Ford Focus. It can also parallel park without you even touching the wheel, reads the traffic signs that you miss, keeps an eye on your blind spot and alerts you if you start drifting out of your lane. Ford’s tech creates the world’s most reliable co-driver, taking care of the details so that you’re free to enjoy the thrill of the open road.
*Some of the technologies featured are optional equipment, available at at an additional cost.
Focus: The Tech
Active Park Assist
Don’t waste time inching interminably forward and back. Press the Ford Focus Park Assist button and it uses ultrasonic sensors located on the front and rear to guide you gracefully into any spot. All you need to do is accelerate and brake…
Traffic Sign Recognition
You may be keeping your eyes on the road, but it’s still easy to miss the odd road sign as you hurtle past. Good thing the Ford Focus is paying close attention, then, displaying the most recent road-side placards clearly on your dashboard.
Lane Departure Warning
Using a small camera on the front of the car, the Focus can tell if you begin to veer out of lane without indicating. It will warn you with three quick vibrations of the steering wheel – that’s less alarming than the screams of your passengers.
Blind Spot Information System
The Ford Focus is aware of your surroundings at all times. Two sensors on either side of the rear bumpers keep careful watch of your blind spot. If they sense a car entering that zone, an indicator light will appear in your rear view mirror.
