Winner Apple iPad 2

Um, yes. Not a massive surprise, is it? Other tabs queued up to take it on, but as when a massively drunk man throws himself enthusiastically into a fight with an angry gorilla, all that was left after each assault on Apple’s flagship device was an embarrassed silence and a mound of mangled parts. Apple dutifully added the front and rear cameras that everyone had clamoured for in the wake of the first iPad, then sat back and watched as the iPad 2 marched to a million sales in its first weekend. With iOS 5 set to remove the need for a computer to sync the ’Pad with, things can only get better for it…

Price: From £399 | Apple

Made 33% slimmer and 15% lighter than its predecessor, the iPad 2 is now blessed with a A5 dualcore processor, helping to deliver a vastly improved graphics performance, enhancing the iPad’s gaming credentials.

iOS 4.3 delivers a better performance from Safari web browsing, to go with the folders, multitasking, Airplay and customisable screens added in iOS 4.

Retaining the same ten-hour battery life as the first iPad, the new Smart Cover can be used as a makeshift stand and puts your iPad 2 to sleep. Unlike the iPhone 4, you can grab one in either black or white from the off.

Finally, A front-facing VGA camera means you can now video chat via Skype and FaceTime. The best just got better…
