Finalist Philips Fidelio DS9000
T3 Tech and Gadgets
This dock isn’t just a looker – far from it. The Fidelio iPod/iPhone dock's layers of lacquered plywood glued together make for a rigid build quality, reducing vibrations and improving sound quality, as well as making it look quite beautiful.
Price: £360 | Philips
Listening to tracks, you’ll discover parts you never even knew existed, it’s that clear, while bass is warm and rich. The curved design means it’ll look at home in any room, and the proximity sensor is a neat feature, lighting up the controls when you approach.
As with many new devices you can download an app to control the dock from your iPhone, and should you be using it as a bedroom unit, there’s a built-in alarm, and a 3.5mm input, if you don’t have an iThing to your name. Stylish, high-end and sounding great, this stands out from the iDock field – no easy feat given the amount of quality to be found there.
