Winner Philips Airfryer

We all like to eat deep-fried things, especially if we’re Scottish. But scientists warn that eating things that have been soaked at length in hot fat may not be good for us. That’s where the Airfryer comes in. By rapidly moving hot air and using a grill element, it produces chips and other traditionally high-calorie treats with up to 80 per cent less fat content. As a result, you get all the great taste of frites, but with less of the heart disease and obesity. All thanks to technology.

Price: £129.99 | Philips

The AirFryer uses "Rapid Air" tech to circulate air at up to 200 degrees Celsius around any food you’d usually deep fry, including chips, chicken, fish or Mars bars, giving the same taste but with 80 percent less fat, in just 12 minutes.

Another benefit is that you can do away with your chip pan, the cause of many fires (and terrifying health and safety adverts) over the years. The air filter means your house won’t smell of whatever you’re cooking. All the taste, none of the guilt.
