Google Docs

Google Docs has been helping to make Microsoft Office surplus to requirements for some time now, but with cloud computing the buzz phrase of the last 12 months, the web-based documents package has had a new lease of life.

Your documents are stored in the cloud for easy access and while initial storage isn’t massive at 1GB, Google’s prices for bigger lumps of space are cheap. The simple group editing functionality makes Google Docs incredibly useful.

Now with video playback, document pagination, editing on smartphone apps and tablets and a recently overhauled UI, the service is looking better than ever. Google's cloud-based Chrome OS can only make it more popular when it launches in summer.
