This year, the MacBook Pro’s annual refresh was a bit special. Apple gave its flagship portable a healthy speed and performance bump, with new processors and graphics chips.

The latest rendition of the MacBook Pro wraps a feast of high-end innards around the device’s classic good looks and a 15-inch LED-backlit LCD display with 1440x900 resolution.

Running version 10.6 of Apple’s Mac Snow Leopard operating system, the 15-inch MacBook Pro grabs its power from a 2.2GHz quad-core Intel i7 Sandy Bridge processor and an accompanying 4GB of RAM, while the AMD Radeon HD 6750M makes light work of Call of Duty et al.

Weighing in at just 2.54kg the 15-inch MacBook pro touts a more-than-useful seven-hour battery life. The Pro was also the first laptop to come equipped with the new, high-speed Thunderbolt port, offering speeds 12 times that of Firewire – the icing on the cake.
