Seven inches? For a tablet? Some said it was madness, others that it was the perfect size: big enough to watch a movie, not so large it’d weigh down your bag. Unlike some competitors, it was undeniably a tablet and not a big phone.

Whatever the size, with Android on board, the original Galaxy Tab was the first serious iPad rival, smaller and more portable, yet with the same 3G connectivity and access to the Readers Hub, Social Hub, Music Hub, and the rest.

The Tab is mightily impressive, especially given at launch it was running a version of Android not even optimised for tablets. The iPad isn't the only commuter tablet in town by a long chalk.
