T3 Awards 2009: Gadgets under 200 pounds

If staring over this year’s T3 Gadget Awards 2009 shortlist has left you wondering how you're ever going to rustle up the cash to snare them all, we've selected 10 of the more affordable gadget entries in this year’s prestigious ‘gadget Oscars’ to get you started.

Gadget You Can’t Live Without
: Apple iPod Touch 16GB

The Touch won Gadget of the year in the last T3 Awards, and is still one of the finest gadgets ever made. Its strengths are music – sound quality is far superior to the iPhone – video and, thanks to the built-in Wi-Fi, the web and email.

   


Green Gadget of the Year: Bayliss Eco Media Player
Trevor Bayliss’ successor to his windup radio, this MP3/MP4 player stores up to 8GB of tunes, gives 45 mins of audio for one minute of winding and can also charge your mobile phone.


Green Gadget of the Year: Roberts Solar DAB
The world first solar powered DAB, can deliver up to 27 hours of playback per charge - just by harnessing the sun's mighty power. There’s also a mains adapter, and the usual features you'd expect including a line-in socket to plug in an MP3 player.

 


Home Gadget of the Year: Tefal Quick Cup Deluxe
Fill the 1.7 litre water tank, and watch as the 2.8kW heating element gurgles you an instant cup of hot water. It can only muster up a water temperature of 85 Centigrade, so isn't ideal for some posher teas, but it's perfect for instant coffee.  

  


Home Gadget of the Year: Dyson DC16 Car and Boat
Designed for those hard to reach areas of your car, no spilt crumb is safe from the powerful suction of the Dyson Root6. It doesn't clog or lose suction (ever), and the there’s even a version to zap pet fluff.



Commuter Gadget: Sony PSP - 3000
The last PSP before the Go! includes a brighter, less reflective screen than previous iterations, an in-built mic that can be used for Skype calls, and you can even use it as a Sat-nav with the right add-on.




Music Product of the Year: Sony X-Series Walkman 16GB
Sony invented the Walkman, but spent the MP3 age playing catch-up to Apple. That’s changed with the X-Series. With a button-bright, 3-inch OLED touchscreen, Wi-Fi and iPlayer downloads there's Sony's usual sound-quality excellence.

   


Work Gadget of the Year: Vodafone Mobile Broadband
Vodafone’s mobile data solution is a mobile broadband dongle with integrated 4GB memory card. On a 3GB monthly deal, the stick is 7.2Mbps compatible and provides faultless browsing ability for a more than reasonable price.



Music Product of the Year: Nokia 5310 XpressMusic
The 5310 was never the most feature-packed handset, but with unlimited downloads from Nokia’s Comes With Music store, it suddenly becomes an indispensable portable music machine that fits in the smallest of pockets.



Commuter Gadget
: Nintendo DSi
The DSi has a bigger, brighter brace of screens than those found on the DS Lite, as well as a 0.3-megapixel camera, an SD slot and the ability to download games from the new DSiWare store.
